1. 17/05/2005 21:03 - Favorite Scenes

A movie, even if not great, can have great moments. The following are some of my favorite scenes, in no particular order. Some of them belong to my favorite movies, of course, but that is not always the case. Eyes Wide Shut (1999): The ritual at the masked ball, when that hallucinatory music starts. Is it heaven or hell? Whatever the case, I want to be there. (Jocelyn Pook is the c...

Movies that are supposed to be great but that I suspect suck: Kill Bill 2 Sin City Comedies that will at best make me chuckle: Meet the Fockers Kung Fu Hustle A horror movie that will scare nobody: The Amytiville Horror...

5. 08/04/2005 15:51 - Aguirre: The Wrath of God

I was hanging out with some friends eating and drinking when someone expressed a desire for watching a great movie and I immediately suggested Herzog's Aguirre, which I happened to be carrying with me. I told them that it was about the Spanish conquistadors and everyone was hooked, there was no need to elaborate. We opened new beers, placed ashtrays strategically and sat down in fr...
